In a thrilling display of talent and skill, Benny “Skinnyboii” Matlamela emerged a winner at the Red Bull Dance Your Style Limpopo qualifier on Saturday.
Following the huge success of the Red Bull Dance Your Style World final held at Monte Casino in December 2022, the world class street dance competition returns in search of the best street dancer to represent Mzansi at this year’s world final in Germany later this year.
As the second stop of the tour, Polokwane played host to talented street dancers, each competing for a chance to showcase their moves on the grandest stage.
Skinnyboii secured a spot in the National Final, scheduled to take place on September 2 in Durban.
“This was the most challenging and defining moment for me. I prepared hard for this and I didn’t take anything and anyone lightly. I gave it my all, from the first round all the way to the last round,” Skinny Boii said.
His captivating performance, effortless moves and magnetic stage presence, wowed the enthusiastic crowd who voted him the winner.
“The significant thing about this win, is that I am an outright winner. I did not just qualify like the previous year. This time I have the Redbull Dance Your Style trophy in my hands. I am really excited and looking forward to represent my province in Durban,” he added.
His exceptional skill and artistic expression ultimately propelled him to victory, securing his place in the upcoming national final.
The winner of the national final will earn the opportunity to represent South Africa at the 2023 world final in German, Frankfurt on the 4th of November.

REGIONAL DANCE QUALIFIERS DATES
Dancers who represent all styles from hip-hop, breaking, house, waaking, voguing, bhangra or jazz have the chance to showcase their skills and possibly represent South Africa on the world stage later this year.
