Golden Lifestyle’s 1st Annual Battle of the DJs took off on a high note on Saturday night, culminating in an electrifying showdown.
The battle of the DJs featured five local upcoming DJs: Tucker Turkish, MJ-11, Onismus, HouseGod SA, and Da Thaps.
The final round showdown was between Onismus and Da Thaps.
Onismus Tshepo emerged victorious, dazzling the audience with his exceptional skills and musical prowess.
He walked away with a well-deserved prize of R2000 in cold hard cash and the highly coveted Golden Lifestyle August DJ residency.
In a generous gesture, Mamochabo Business Enterprise added R500, further boosting Onismus’s total prize money to R2500.
“I have been away from the DJ scene ever since I started producing music, but I decided to come back this year. That’s when I got the opportunity to play at some of the clubs in the Turfloop area.”
“Winning at Golden Lifestyle made me realise I have what it takes to present myself as a entertainer and not only as an underdog/underground producer.”
“It means a great deal and has inspired me to to push further to get more exposure, which in turn will boost me as a developing brand, ” Onismus concluded.

The first annual Golden Lifestyle Battle of the DJs has set the stage for an exciting era in the world of music, as new talents emerge, ready to make their mark on the ever-evolving musical landscape.
ABOUT ONISMUS
Hailing from Moletjie Mahwibitswane but now based in Segopje Ga Mamabolo, Onismus learnt to DJ around 2008 during high school, using virtual DJ/Atomix DJ tools.
Later, he embarked on a self-taught music production journey and had his first official EP release under a local label called Ancestral Recordings, based in Bloem.
The tracks titled “Confessions” was featured on Metro FM Urban Beat (Local Diroba Mix) and GOGO Music by Ralfgum.
In 2015, he released an Afro House EP, “Beginning To End” with a New York-based label Afro Rebel, and the track titled “Le Deep Soul” was featured on Urban Beat.
He also released an EP titled “Audible Treasures” with another New York based label called Vibe Boutique Records.
The titled “Desires of My Heart” reached the number one spot on Traxsource Top 10 Lounge Essentials Chart.
