The South African Traditional Music Achievements Awards (SATMA Awards) unveiled the list of nominees for their highly anticipated 18th annual ceremony during a glamorous event at the SABC Radio M1 Studio in Auckland Park on September 30th, 2023.
In collaboration with the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture and SABC, the SATMA Awards celebrated the rich heritage of South African traditional music and culture.
The evening was a vibrant convergence of music enthusiasts, esteemed guests, and talented musicians who proudly expressed their solidarity with the traditional music scene. Fashion Kulture added an extra layer of glamour to the event with their exquisite designs infused with a distinctive African touch.
Singers like Zuko, Amahle Miss Hilary, Amalethukuthula, Jeremiah Fyah Ises, and Jessica Mbangeni took the stage, leaving the audience spellbound. The University of Pretoria Up Ovuwa Cultural Ensemble also graced the stage with their performance, inspiring everyone to celebrate their roots and culture.
In a poignant moment, SATMA Awards founder Mr. Dumisani Goba paid tribute to the South African freedom fighter Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu, reminding everyone of the importance of preserving and celebrating their cultural heritage.
The SATMA Awards expressed their heartfelt appreciation to sponsors and stakeholders, including the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture, SABC, Sabc1, Isiqu Accountants, Airco, Vaya Footwear, and Michelle Champagne by Kay N, whose presence added prestige to the event.
