Makhadzi Calls Out Eugene Khoza For Hating On Skomota

Makhadzi set the stage ablaze at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and clinched the Best Traditional Album for her African Queen 2.0. She surprised many by bringing social media sensation Skomota on stage with her.

This decision faced criticism from those who believe the SAMA stage is too grand for Skomota, a sentiment echoed by comedian Eugene Khoza, who called her out for it.

Speaking on MacG’s Podcast and Chill last week, local comedian Eugene Khoza complained about the SAMAs becoming increasingly mediocre and tasteless.

He blamed artists, especially Makhadzi, for this trend, particularly after she brought Skomota on stage. In response, Makhadzi slammed Eugene, accusing him of hindering the growth and prosperity of others and not wanting to see Limpopo artists flourish.

Makhadzi sent a voicenote to MacG, requesting an opportunity on the podcast to address Eugene Khoza’s comments on Skomota.

“I felt so offended regarding the Skomota issue; I felt like it was just hate. He was trying to play a smart game by stating facts but, at the same time, expressing hate. I don’t know if you have space for me to come to the podcast because I want to address him. I feel like he has hate for Limpopo. We have been watching talentless people from other places on the SAMA stage because they have money for PR. He made some good points on other topics, but I feel like he just came to your podcast to talk about Skomota and express hate toward Skomota.”

Many people agreed with Makhadzi, stating that Eugene was disrespectful to Skomota. Others argued that Eugene Khoza made a valid point about the state of the music industry. Netizens applauded Makhadzi for standing up for Skomota.
