SAPS Limpopo from different units, joined by other structures across the province arrested 1322 suspects for various offences, including murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, sexual offences, assaults, fraud and drug related cases. Operations were held from 15 January to 21 January 2024.
The executions by the Multi-disciplinary forces were through roadblocks, stop and search, compliance inspections at liquor premises, and second-hand dealers, amongst other duties.
Eighty four (84) suspects were arrested for cases related to drugs, wherein they seized 48.711 grams of dagga, 52.004 grams of crystal meth, 1gram of crack cocaine or rocks. 14 suspects were also nabbed for rape cases and 17 for transgression of domestic voilence (DVA).
Domestic Voilence Cases
222 reports of domestic violence were attended, and 306 protection orders were served.
Furthermore, they confiscated and recovered 04 firearms with 31 ammunition, 772897.5ml liquor, 26 knives, 30 dangerous weapons, 10 stolen/hijacked motor vehicles, 855 764 counterfeit cigarettes sticks.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo SAPS Major General Jan Scheepers has welcomed the arrests and also highlighted the issue of drugs and domestic violence cases in the province. He called upon community members to work together in reporting cases and stand for helpless victims and drug addicts.
The suspects have started to appear before various Magistrate’s courts across the province.
