Limpopo Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has launched a 24-hour service at Tshamahansi Clinic in the Mogalakwena municipality, one of four clinics in the Waterberg District offering round-the-clock primary health care services.
MEC Ramathuba emphasized that the extended hours will play a crucial role in reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality.
“The initiative aims to reduce wait times and enhance accessibility for patients. This will reduce mother and children morbidity and mortality” said MEC Ramathuba
In addition to the extended operating hours, the MEC and Mogalakwena Mayor Cllr Ngoako Tauoatsoala examined newly installed E-lockers at the clinic.
With a capacity of 116, the lockers cater to stable chronic patients, allowing them to collect medication at any time without queuing. Patients receive an SMS with a unique PIN number upon medicine loading, using it to access their medication.
A notification is sent to Pharmacy Direct once the locker is closed, signalling successful collection. It’s noteworthy that the E-lockers are set to commence operations in February.
