Limpopo Independent Practitioners Association Host First Medical Awards

The Limpopo Independent Practitioners Association (LIPA) held its inaugural Limpopo Medical Awards at Fusion Boutique on Thursday, 8 February.  

The awards, sponsored by Cipla, JDJ Diagnostics Pathology Laboratories and Mercurius Motors Polokwane recognized inspiring leaders who have served as visionaries and mentors in the medical community, as well as emerging leaders in medicine who have distinguished themselves academically, through research, and with significant contributions to society.

LIPA chairperson Dr Mabuwa Makhomisane said the award is a celebration of the extraordinary achievements and contributions made by medical professionals in the communities.

“It is an honour to recognize excellence while individuals are still alive. It is not easy to be rewarded for this excellence under our circumstances as medical practitioners, and these individuals have done us proud. They serve as inspiration to me and many of our colleagues. Their achievements are not only commendable but also contribute significantly to making Limpopo a much better province to live in,” said Makhomisane

The Young Doctors Merit was awarded to Thabiso Steven Nyambe, Digital Healthcare Innovation to MJ Nkoko, Research and Innovation to Dr Tumelo Moyaba, Gender Acclaim to Dr Motlatso Phiri, Group Practice was awarded to Redimed, Community Service to Mameno Pataki, Spirit Of Medicine to Dr Mbilaelo Tshamiswe, Healthcare Leadership was awarded to Dr Dakalo Muavha, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dr Mukansi Mnisi.

The medical practitioners enjoyed performances by the legendary Vicky Sampson and Mhalatze Vocal.

The Limpopo Independent Practitioners Association (LIPA) advocates for doctors to remain independent practitioners. LIPA, a subsidiary of the Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners Association (Asaipa), is committed to organizing healthcare professionals in the province.
