The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has rubbished reports that Lesedi FM presenter Thuso Motaung has been dismissed.
This after City Press reported on Wednesday alleging that the popular broadcaster, who is a hit with Sesotho radio station listeners, had been dismissed with immediate effect from the SABC radio station.
In a statement released on Thursday, the SABC clarified that Motaung had not been dismissed but temporarily unscheduled.
“Mr Thuso Motaung has been temporarily unscheduled for operational reasons and will be back on his programme after two weeks. Mrs Mamontha Motaung is also not dismissed nor is she suspended as it has been falsely reported.
“The SABC would like to reiterate that while the Corporation is accountable to the public on various corporate issues, it is imperative to note that it will not discuss any matters pertaining to the employer-employee relationship in the media and public space,” the station said.
In October of 2023, the veteran presenter also lost his job as a deputy director of intervention in the Free State; he had been occupying the position since 2012. His contract was terminated by Premier Mxolisi Dukwana amid serious allegations and internal conflicts at the radio station.
