Limpopo Health MEC, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba handed over a new Mental Health Care Unit at Ellisras Hospital, Lephalale Local Municipality, Waterberg District.
The State-of-the-Art unit is the first dedicated mental health care unit in the Waterberg District.
The facility will provide mental health care users with the deserved dignity and appropriate treatment.
The MEC was accompanied by the Lephalale Mayor, Cllr. Aaron Mokgehle, the Chiefwhip and Speaker of Council, Kgoši-kgolo Gaborone Seleka, Kgoši Langa and Kgoši Shongoane.
The building has two legs which are demarketed by the nursing stations that monitors every ward via CCTV system.
The ward area is also having staff support services which include kitchen, offices and store rooms which area being used by the staff in the unit.
There are 2 recreational courtyards one for male and the other for females, 17 bed ward, 5x seclusion wards (72hr) 12 general wards for male and female.
The Unit is featuring 3 consulting rooms plus an office, stuff room and ablution facilities.
NEW THENGWE CLINIC IN THULAMELA
The MEC officially opened a newly built and completed State-of-the Art Thengwe Clinic in Thulamela Local Municipality, Vhembe District.
This clinic will add to the list of clinics operating for 24 hours, in an effort to bring healthcare services closer to the people and providing them with quality services.
The MEC is accompanied by Vho-Thovhele Vudzidzhena Nethengwe, Vho-Thovhele Tshikundamalema, Executive Mayor of Vhembe District Municipality, Cllr. Freda Nkondo, Thulamela Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr. Sarah Rambuda and local councillors.
Meanwhile Ramathuba will on Thursday 18 April, open and handover the newly revamped paediatric ward at FH Odendaal Hospital in the Modimolle Local Municipality, Waterberg District.
The ward will result in final completion of maternal and child health complex unit as committed in the previous financial year.
The MEC previously announced in the budget vote that the maternity unit’s north wing and pediatric ward at FH Odendaal Hospital would be completed and handed over before the end of April.
“We are thrilled to see the completion of the newly revamped pediatric ward, a vital component of our healthcare facility. It will provide quality care, support, and resources to help children recover quickly and safely. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent infrastructure to ensure the efficient delivery of healthcare services,” said MEC Ramathuba.
