ANC MP Boy Mamabolo says he has been vindicated following ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula’s statement regarding alterations to the final approved lists.
Mbalula said there were some manipulation on some provincial lists and the provinces affected by the manipulation were Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Gauteng.
The African National Congress has characterized the omission of certain names from its candidate list as a technical glitch rather than manipulation and has since called for an investigation after the electoral committee chaired by Kgalema Motlanthe found that the party’s list submitted to the IEC had been altered.
Mamabolo had taken the ANC to court in a bid to challenge the party’s decision to remove him from the 2024 parliamentary list but the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg struck his urgent application application off the roll.
The ANC argued on the legitimacy of Mamabolo’s academic credentials including failing to produce a matric certificate.
He was removed from the ANC parliament list after the party questioned his qualifications.

According to reports UJ confirmed to TimesLIVE that Mamabolo completed the diploma in paralegal studies in 2023.
“The university confirms Jacob Boy Mamabolo obtained a diploma in paralegal studies (NQF level 6) at UJ in 2023. Mamabolo was admitted into the diploma programme through his matric certificate,” said UJ spokesperson Masego Panyane.
