It was reported that a 64-year-old woman with symptoms of the virus was admitted to Maphutha Malatjie Hospital. Unconfirmed reports claimed that the woman had visited two hospitals before being referred to the facility on Thursday, 11 July, for assessment.
“We urge the media to verify information with the department, prior to publishing such claims, as a deviation from this norm amounts to irresponsible journalism. It is crucial to rely on verified sources of information and trust the expertise of health officials in situations like these,” said Shikwambana.
