Sports Minister McKenzie to Buy 200 Tickets for Makhadzi’s Show
Sports, Arts, and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has pledged to buy 200 tickets to share with fans for Makhadzi ‘s upcoming One Woman Show at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in December.
McKenzie made the announcement via social media platform X.
“I will be there and will buy 200 tickets for those that [want] to accompany me to Peter Mokaba to see one of our most biggest stars in the world.”
The minister and the singing sensation clashed publicly earlier this year over claims that Makhadzi received no support from the government after the Limpopo musician bagged an award at the BET Awards.

McKenzie revealed that DSAC had spent R230,000 in booking the singer, which did not go down well for the singer at the time as the minister had been on a concerted campaign at the time, threatening to name and shame business people and artists who benefitted improperly from the department.
The highly anticipated event will feature a star-studded lineup, including Malaika, Pleasure tsa Manyalo, Sho Madjozi, Lwah The Ndlunkulu, Janesh & Abi Wa Mampela, and Zola 7.
Despite the excitement surrounding the show, Makhadzi recently expressed her frustrations regarding ticket sales, particularly in comparison to international artists.
She noted that while Chris Brown sold out FNB Stadium in just two hours, she has faced challenges in selling out her concert.
“South Africa is a movie, so I must take 10 years to sell out Peter Mokaba Stadium tickets,” she wrote on X.
The DSAC spokesperson Zimasa Velaphi said the funds for the sponsored tickets would come personally from McKenzie’s pocket.
The early bird tickets, which are already sold out, are priced at R70, while General Phase 1 tickets are R120 and Golden Circle tickets are R499.
