The call follows the recent maiden Limpopo Liquor Indaba held last week and aimed at discussing public views concerning the regulations of the Limpopo Liquor Act 05 of 2009.
The Act was implemented 15 months ago and was reacted to with some dissatisfaction from members of the industry, others choosing to take the matter to court challenging the Act.
While the court’s decision was in favor of the Department, MEC Matibe believed it necessary to cultivate a culture of transparent deliberations as a process towards declaring final regulations.
“All Stakeholders have with effect from Friday, 15th Novemeber 2024, been provided an opportunity to make submissions to the Department regarding possible amendments of the Regulations outlined by the Limpopo Liquor Act 05 of 2009,” says MEC Matibe.
The Liquor Indaba unpacked regulations which require possible amendments, such as trading hours, fees, role of Municipalities or Traditional leaders and nuisance by the licensed establishment topped the list during the discussions.
MEC Matibe encourages stakeholders to take their opportunity to forward their comments to the above email address on these topics and any key points they deem important to the Act.
