Limpopo Executive Council Assesses Flood Damage in Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality
The Limpopo Executive Council has today conducted a visit to the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality to assess the extensive damage caused by the recent heavy rains that have severely impacted the area.
The council said the visit aims to evaluate the situation on the ground and determine necessary interventions to support the affected communities.
Recent reports indicate significant flooding in towns and villages across the municipality, resulting in damaged infrastructure and disrupted daily activities.
Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has emphasised the importance of implementing effective interventions that will enhance the quality of life for the people of Limpopo.
“We have received numerous messages through social media, WhatsApp, and direct calls detailing the devastation caused by the floods in all districts. Our response must prioritise the residents’ needs as we assess the situation and implement necessary measures,” she stated.

Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, accompanied by key officials, conducted a site visit to assess the damage caused by the recent floods in the Waterberg District.
The delegation included MEC for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure Mr. Ernest Rachoene, Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Cllr. Jack Maeko, and local Mayor Modimolle-Mookgophong Cllr. Sechele Sibulai.
They visited specific areas that were severely impacted, including Ward 12: Chris Hani Street, where a bridge was washed away, and Ward 8: Phomolong, where a road was destroyed.
