ANC Limpopo Defends Deputy Chairperson Florence Radzilani Amid VBS Scandal
The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo says there’s still no basis to pursue the step-aside clause against its deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani.
The party has defended Radzilani amid a leaked affidavit implicating Radzilani of getting R300,000 channelled towards her for investing in the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank during her tenure as Vhembe mayor.
According to a leaked affidavit by the group’s now-disgraced former chair Tshifhiwa Matodzi, Radzilani wanted to receive “Christmas”, amounting to at least R1.5 million.
As the investigation continues, the ANC’s provincial leadership insists that any decision to act against Radzilani will be based on new evidence or formal charges.
ANC’s Limpopo spokesperson Jimmy Machaka says they have always known that certain leaders have been mentioned but there has not been any work on the part of law enforcement agency on charging them criminally.
“As far as the organisation is concerned unless new information comes to light, which will then propel the PEC to change its initial stance as far as the matter is concerned,” said Machaka

Former ANC Limpopo treasurer Danny Msiza has also been implicated in the affidavit for allegedly receiving funds irregularly from the bank.
Msiza and Matodzi, along with 12 others, are charged with the brazen looting of about R2.3 billion from the now-collapsed VBS Mutual Bank.
The NPA alleged that Msiza was the central figure between VBS and the municipalities that had illegally invested money in contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act.
Msiza, through his lawyer, has since been seeking a separate trial from his co-accused.
