Hellen Seabi switched off the microphone after 11 years of doing radio on Capricorn FM. The official announcement was made on Friday afternoon on Capricorn FM’s Facebook page. She hosted her last show on Friday, October 28, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Hellen started her radio career at Radio Turf, University of Limpopo’s campus radio in 2006 as a news anchor and later joined Capricorn FM in 2009 as a sport presenter.

Her dedication and passion for radio saw her climb the ladder to management level and heading the station’s music department. In 2018 and 2019 she won Best Female DJ at the Limpopo Music Awards consecutively.

“Today is my last day at Capricorn FM as Head of Music and the voice behind the Capricorn Groove between 7pm and 10pm. It’s a bittersweet moment for me because I’ve been with you for the past 11 years. Thank you for the support over the years. Thank you to Capricorn FM listeners, management and my team. I love you guys,” she said.

Hellen was pursuing her honors degree in broadcast journalism at UJ in 2009 when she received a call that forced her to drop out of her postgraduate studies and return to Limpopo to join Capricorn FM as a sports presenter.

Once settled in her new role in Polokwane, she enrolled in her honors degree in Communication Science at the University of South Africa, which she completed in 2018. She is currently waiting for the outcome of her MA Communication Science degree as she eyes a PhD qualification in the near future.

Capricorn FM posted and captioned a farewell message accompanied by Hellen’s video on its Facebook page.

“Today the team at Limpopo’s Hottest Frequency bid a bittersweet farewell to Hellen Seabi who has served with us for over a decade. We wish her prosperity in all her future endeavours.”

It’s not clear yet if she will continue in the entertainment industry or join a different field in the corporate industry.

  1. I remember Helen from Radio Turf. She has always been amazing. Wish her bigger things as she ventures into new things after Capricorn FM.
