LAM Condemns Benny Mayengani’s Criticism on Cross Over Song

Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) has come forward to condemn Benny Mayengani for what they perceive as an attempt to instigate tribalism within the entertainment industry.

The movement expressed its support for Munghana Lonele FM and its choice of “Keneilwe” by Wanitwa Mos, Master KG, and Nkosazana Daughter feat Dalom Kids as the Cross Over Song.

This comes after Benny Mayengani criticised Munghana Lonene FM during a live Facebook session, accusing the station of neglecting Xigaza music and allegedly engaging in corrupt practices.

Mayengani alleged that music compilers at the station solicited bribes from artists and musicians, tarnishing the reputation of the renowned radio platform.

Mayengani questioned why Munghana Lonene FM opted to cross over to 2024 with an Amapiano song instead of a Xigaza song or music. He argued that other stations, like Phalaphala FM, chose to cross over with songs that represent their respective cultures.

In response, LAM praised Munghana Lonene FM for its dedication to supporting the entertainment industry without limitations. The Limpopo-based radio station has been commended for fostering an inclusive environment that transcends tribal boundaries.

In a statement issued by LAM, the organisation strongly denounced any form of tribalism, emphasising that it is a thing of the past.

“The movement firmly believes that no individual has the right to attack the management of Munghana Lonene FM, particularly regarding their decision to feature ‘Keneilwe,’ which they consider a ‘crossing over’ song. As stakeholders in the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), we condemn any form of tribalism. No artist should intimidate or undermine SABC stations that are contributing to the advancement of the industry.”

The Limpopo Artists Movement called upon artists in Limpopo to unite against tribalism and work together to promote a diverse and inclusive entertainment industry.
