LEDET Urges Liquor Stakeholders to Comment on Liquor Regulations

Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC, Tshitereke Matibe, is calling on Limpopo liquor stakeholders to submit their comments on the Limpopo Liquor Amendment Regulations gazetted on 15 November 2024.

The call follows the recent maiden Limpopo Liquor Indaba held last week and aimed at discussing public views concerning the regulations of the Limpopo Liquor Act 05 of 2009.

The Act was implemented 15 months ago and was reacted to with some dissatisfaction from members of the industry, others choosing to take the matter to court challenging the Act.

While the court’s decision was in favor of the Department, MEC Matibe believed it necessary to cultivate a culture of transparent deliberations as a process towards declaring final regulations.

“All Stakeholders have with effect from Friday, 15th Novemeber 2024, been provided an opportunity to make submissions to the Department regarding possible amendments of the Regulations outlined by the Limpopo Liquor Act 05 of 2009,” says MEC Matibe.

Stakeholders have 21 days as of 15 November 2024 to make their submissions to liquorregulations.comments@ledet.gov.za.
