Matric Exams Progressing Despite Minor Disruptions

Matric learners are set to start the 2024 National Senior Certificate examinations on Monday.

In Limpopo, 124 630 full-time and repeat part-time enrolled for Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.

Among them, 94,214 full-time students from public and private schools will be assessed across 1,287 examination centers, while an additional 30,416 repeat learners will utilize 375 dedicated centers.

This year’s figures reflect a slight decrease from last year’s 94,424 candidates.

Limpopo MEC for Education Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya said that Limpopo is ready for the Class of 2024.

“It was an exciting journey for the class of 2024 and they have shown potential to take the province to greater heights. We have 124 630 full-time and repeat part-time enrolled for Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.

We want to indicate that in the process of finalizing the logistics for administering the exams, we did not encounter challenges. All our storage hubs in the province were properly prepared and are thus in good condition,” said Lerule-Ramakhanya

The MEC will on Monday visit one of the examinations centres in Sekgosese West to monitor the commencement of examinations. 

“We have a dedicated team from the head office and the Districts that will be monitoring examinations on a daily basis. I will also use the first day tomorrow to monitor the start of Exams at Motlalaohle Secondary School in Botlokwa, Sekgosese West Circuit under the Capricorn North District. It is one of our highly enrolled schools in the Province with over 1 300 learners,” said Lerule-Ramakhanya 

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has urged parents and guardians to support the learners during the examinations.

“My best wishes to the class of 2024, those who will be sitting for their final exams, starting 21st October and ending November 28. To our churches, to liquor outlets and also event organisers, we kindly request that you avoid hosting events during this time. Let us also avoid playing loud music and allow our learners to write and prepare for their exams without disruption,” said Ramathuba
