Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba visited Seshego Hospital in response to social media outrage over pregnant women seen carrying water buckets for bathing and drinking.
The video sparked public criticism, leading the MEC to meet with the hospital management to investigate the situation.
The MEC revealed a water crisis in Seshego, with disruptions in supply from the Municipality.
“What we must indicate is that in terms of the water crisis in the hospital, we have a situation in Seshego. The Hospital is situated in zone one within the high line area. In terms of the water supply, when the Municipality pumps water time and again there is disruption, ” said Ramathuba
An agreement was reached for consistent water supply tinkering, and efforts are underway to address the challenge while awaiting the Municipality’s resolution.
“We met with the Municipality yesterday. We have got an agreement on the constant water tinkering in the morning and afternoon and know by doing that it will be able to assist us. In the meantime while the Municipality is resolving the challenge of this particular area not receiving water,” she added.
