New Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie Vows to Make ‘spinning’ one of the Biggest Sports in South Africa

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced his cabinet for the seventh administration on Sunday night.

Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie has been appointed the new Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture. 

McKenzie plans to put an end to gangsterism through sport after being appointed as the new Minster of Sports, Arts and Culture.

The PA is one of 11 parties that form part of the new Government of National Unity. 

‘Spinning’ is a South African motorsport that involves driving cars at speed in circles and performing stunts in and out of the car. 

In a video making rounds on social media, Mackenzie said that ‘spinning’ and ‘stance’ are not crimes. 

‘Stance’ is a style of modifying cars which emphasises lowering their suspension. 

“Spinning and stance is not a crime, and you are going to see,” McKenzie said.

“I am so excited because I promised that spinning shall be recognised and I am going to keep that promise. I am going to make spinning one of the biggest sports in this country. 

“We are going to stop gangsterism with sports.”
