Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga Grateful to Have Praised Ramaphosa at the Inauguration
Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga’ captivated the audience with her poetic praises for president Ramaphosa during his inauguration.
Popularly known as praise poet Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga took the stage at the historical President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration at the Union Buildings in Tshwane on Wednesday, 19 June.
The multi-award-winning author and language activist Masingita Shibambu, from Limpopo, said she was honored to be invited to recite a poem at the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
“I am beyond grateful and honored to have been selected as the official Praise Poet for the Presidential Inauguration 2024. No one and nothing can convince me otherwise, God lives,” wrote Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga on social media.
She said the key themes and inspirations behind the poem center on themes of togetherness.
“The poem centers on themes of unity, resilience, and hope. It draws inspiration from the country’s rich history, diverse cultures, and the collective aspirations of its people.
“These themes are integral to the significance of the event as they embody the spirit of a nation coming together to celebrate leadership and envision a prosperous future,” she said.

In 2020, Ntombhi Ya Mutsonga became the first Xitsonga praise poet to usher the President at the State of the Nation Address. She recently recited a poem at the 30 Years of Democracy Review and also performed at the 2023 BRICS summit.
