Police Investigate Additional Four Cases Relating To Juju Valley, Seshego Political intolerance.
Limpopo police are investigating an additional four cases of attempted murder, malicious damage to properties, and two counts of contravention of Sec 87 (1)(f) of Electoral Act of 1998.
This comes after the violent incident that occurred during political party campaigns at Juju Valley in Seshego area on Sunday, at about 14:00.
The incident resulted in a 9-year-old bystander and a 25-year-old man sustaining gunshot wounds.
Two cases of attempted murder were then opened. The minor victim is still recuperating in hospital.
The violence erupted during a campaign event between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), leading to an escalation that endangered the lives of people and damage to infrastructures.
Preliminary investigation indicates that several other people sustained injuries after the members hit each other with stones.
There are no arrests yet with regard to all these cases. The police said they have intensified investigations to track down and arrest the suspects.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged the law enforcement authorities to deal decisively with violent attacks stemming from political intolerance in the province.
The police said they will continue to monitor closely the areas identified as hotspots during the election period.
