SAPS Launches Manhunt for Armed Robbery Suspects in Burgersdorp

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Maake have initiated an extensive manhunt for four unidentified male suspects responsible for an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, 7 November, 2023, in the Burgersdorp village outside Tzaneen in the Mopani District.

According to reports, at approximately 19:45 on the specified evening, a 34-year-old South African female citizen from Mhangweni village was driving a white Volkswagen Polo, collecting four male Ethiopian nationals from Burgersdorp.

As they made a stop at a tuckshop, their vehicle was blocked by a blue Volkswagen Polo TSI (registration number KX88NKGP) with four unknown male occupants.

The suspects allegedly confronted the four male Ethiopians, robbing them at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones, before making their escape in the blue VW Polo.

Upon police arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a single shot from a rifle had been fired, with no reported injuries. A swift response from the SAPS has triggered an immediate manhunt for the armed robbery suspects.

Authorities urge anyone with information leading to the apprehension of the suspects to contact Investigating Officer Captain Jan Kekana at 082 319 9742 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

Alternatively, information can be reported to the nearest Police Station or shared anonymously via the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations into the incident are currently underway.
