In response to an overwhelming public engagement and to foster inclusivity, the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) has extended its submission nomination period.
The new deadline for nominations is now set for the 28th of June 2024.
In a statement released by SATMA Awards organizers, they expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response received during the initial nomination period.
The extension aims to accommodate further submissions and to ensure that a diverse range of artists and industry professionals are considered for recognition.
“The decision to extend the nomination period underscores SATMA’s commitment to ensuring that all deserving individuals have the opportunity to be recognized for their contributions to the arts, especially in commemorating 30 years of democracy in South Africa,” stated SATMA in a statement
Following the closure of nominations, the unveiling of nominees will be promptly communicated to the public.
The official date of the main event will be announced during SATMA’s forthcoming media launch and Announcement of Nominees event.
SATMA Awards invites the public, industry legends, radio stations, and record labels to participate in commemorating 30 years of democracy by nominating a minimum of three revered figures who contributed to the struggle for freedom through their artistic endeavors.
Submissions detailing these exceptional individuals should be directed to nominations@satmaawards.co.za. accompanied by the following requisite information:
➢ Name of the Artist
➢ Iconic Struggle Song
➢ Year of Release
➢ Province of Origin
➢ High-resolution Portrait of the Artist
