Comedian : Mr. Chase
SRC Treasurer and Thobela FM Presenter accused of exploiting a famous comedian.
Hamilton Chase Makgothokgo, who goes by the stage name Mr. Chase has come forward with allegations of being used and discarded in the planning and hosting of a comedy show for students at the University of Limpopo.
Mr. Chase claimed that the Student Representative Council (SRC) Treasurer, Mpho Ramodike, and her accomplice Sandile Dikgari, a Thobela FM presenter, engaged in corruption, looting and exploitation of fellow comedians.
He claims that he came up with the idea of hosting a comedy show that was supposed to take place on June 16 at the University of Limpopo.
Mr. Chase alleged that Ramodike took credit for the idea and submitted the plan to the management without acknowledging his contribution.
“The budget for the event, amounting to approximately R700,000, was approved. However, instead of involving me in the subsequent process, Ramodike brought in her friend Sandile Dikgari, who goes by the name ‘Wil’s Dee’ on Thobela FM’s show ‘Ntshirogele’ and is known as the ‘Man of the Match.”
Mr. Chase also claims that on June 14, 2023, he received a call from Dikgari, who attempted to negotiate with him and book him for the very event he had conceived.
“I contacted Ramodike for clarification but received no response. Messages sent to her were read but not replied to, leaving me feeling ignored and abandoned.”
According to Mr. Chase, Dikgari had been contacting the proposed lineup of comedians and falsely claiming that the budget was insufficient.
Dikgari allegedly negotiated for lower booking fee, intending to report higher amounts to the management, pocketing the difference.
As a result, Mr. Chase’s efforts to bring deserving comedians to the event were thwarted, and they were left without a booking.
Mr. Chase believes that corruption, budget looting, and theft are at the core of these actions, with Ramodike involving Dikgari’s help to deceive artists and exploit the allocated funds.
Attempts to obtain any comments regarding these allegations from both parties have been unsuccessful by the time of publication
