Zizi Kodwa Resigns as Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture.
Minister of Sport, Arts, and Cultur, Zizi Kodwa resigns amidst allegations of bribery amounting to R1.7 million.
The Minister appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday in connection with allegations that he received about R1.7 million in bribes.
He is currently out on R30,000 bail.
The charges stem from businessman and former EOH boss Jehan Mackay implicating Kodwa in the state capture commission, chaired by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Kodwa and his co-accused Jehan Mackay, said the state had a weak case against them.
Kodwa was deputy minister of state security when the allegations emerged.

In its 2017 at the ANC 54th elective conference, the ANC passed a resolution that office bearers implicated in serious crimes should step down from their positions until cleared by the courts.
Justice Zondo recommended that Ramaphosa should consider removing Kodwa from his then deputy minister position, however, President Cyril Ramaphosa subsequently appointed him to the position of minister of sport.
“The commission accordingly recommends that the president considers the position of Mr Kodwa as deputy minister of state security. Having regard to the fact that Mr Kodwa appears to find himself in a position where he is beholden by Mr Jehan Mackay,” Zondo stated in his report.
